I'm ready to experiment with networking my Vista desktop with my XP Desktop and Lappy Laptop. I'm on broadband cable Internet.
I have a D-Link DI-524 Wireless Router, two Airlink Wireless PCI AWLH4030 Adapters (for desktops) and an AWLC3026C Wireless Cardbus Adapter. All are installed and working fine for getting onto the Internet. I also have Canon Pixma iP 1500 (on Vista machine), Brother HL-1650 Laser and HP 9650 Deskjet (on XP Machine) Printers to share.
I know there are instructions somewhere on doing this, but can't seem to find them again. I had 'em printed out once, but they're buried right now. Weren't they somewhere in the Help files?

Networking Vista Desktop with XP Desktop and Lappy with Vist
Hey Nancy, are you referring to networking over wireless? I networked my Vista desktop and XP laptop (wired) just fine. Just made sure both are are on the same Workgroup, unique ip addresses. -- -- Andre Windows Connected | http://www.windowsconnected.com Extended64 | http://www.extended64.com Blog | http://www.extended64.com/blogs/andre http://spaces.msn.com/members/adacosta

Yes, it's off topic, but I wanted to get something started so we can at least concentrate on helping each other. And I did cross post to the networking_sharing newsgroup. Heading over there to see what's what.

It could well be - try restricting it to a smaller one, or setup unique MAC address connectivity, so that as long as you have your MAC address of your computer's wireless device set on the router or server, it'll let you on and nobody else! :o)

Rumor has it that networking is still going to get some major reworking before RC1. So you may not want to invest too much time in it just yet.

Rumour... yeh :o) Networking stack still in pre-beta 2 whilst the rest of the OS is in Beta 2 stage (or there abouts) but the networking stack will be up to Beta 2 scratch by the time that the public beta is released.

Rumor has it that networking is still going to get some major reworking before RC1. So you may not want to invest too much time in it just yet.
"NLWard" wrote in message I'm ready to experiment with networking my Vista desktop with my XP Desktop and Lappy Laptop.
